The world is changing:
A patient of mine (thirty-something), came in for her annual
physical. She's well, so I haven't seen her in the past year.
She's "considering" starting a family, so during her exam, when we
did the breast exam, I commented "You'll be breastfeeding, of course", to
which she replied -- "yes and I want to talk to you about that --"
She'd been told by a good friend of hers that's employed in Public
Health, in the lactation field, that it would be good to interview your
physician prenatally regarding his/her support of breastfeeding.
I hope I didn't overwhelm her !
I'm so excited that here's someone I don't have to convince, and she was
thinking she'd have to convince me!
The world really is changing, one mother and baby at a time.
"It is better to be prepared for an opportunity and not have one than to
have an opportunity and not be prepared."
