Though there is some documented decrease in bone mineralization during long term
lactation, women who have breastfed have fewer fractures in later life. The kidneys
spare calcium during, and possibly after lactation, and the calcium lost is
seemingly redeposited, particularly if weaning is gradual. A few studies:
