For Pamela:

I do not have references with me so I cannot verify this, but aren't
oestrogen levels quite low during lactation? Isn't that why some women have
problems with dryness of the vaginal mucous membrane?

Oestrogen given to a women to help her to produce milk acts on the
development of the mammary gland only. It helps the mammary gland to evolute
as during pregnancy. But it will be the stimulation to the breast that will
trigger and maintain milk production.
