kathleen et al. hi 2 vessel cords found at birth contain 1 artery, 1 vein,
instead of 2 arteries 1 vein which are normal, this scenario can indicate a
congenital cardiac condition in 25% of cases diagnosis unkown until an
echo and/or x-ray, ekg or cardiac catheterization narrow it down. It may
also indicate (more commonly?) a congenital urinary tract condition also
unkown until an ultrasound or IVP is performed. The reason these
urinary/cardiac defects can interchange is because their embryological
development occur simultaneously in the continuum of prenatal growth, it's
so fascinating to read about fetal development at the microscopic level
