Hi,

I have not sent any messaes for a couple of months so just a brief
re-introduction - I am anIBCLC working in New Zealand as a senior lecturer
in midwifeyr and teaching lactation papers.

My question is "What is successful breastfeeding?" When would a woman be
reagarded as having breastfed successfully? Is it her decision or that of
her baby or that of the professional hwo is working with her? Is it time
dependent, that is the length of time she has breastfed for? What if she
expresses and feeds by cup/bottle/other means, for example, can that still
be regarded as successful breastfeeding? I know that there is a lot of
research around about successful breastfeeding but is there anyhting that
helps to answer the above questions?

Thanks for some really interesting discussion and useful information which I
have gleaned. I look forward to your comments on the above questions.

Cheryl
