Frenuloplasty as done by my local ENT:
Frenuloplasty is similar to the z-plasty procedure, but instead of the
incision being z shaped, it is more of a hook, down one side of the frenulum
and into the floor of the mouth, interrupting some of the tissue there, then
the incision is sutured together vertically, increasing the length of the
tongue attachement utilizing some of the tissue from the floor of the mouth to
provide additional length. I could ask Dr. for an operative report if this is
not clear enough...but this is the way she explained it to me when I asked the
same question.
