My Sunday paper carried a full page ad for the Children's Miracle Network. CMN
"was formed in 1983 by the Osmond (as in the brother / sister singers, Donnie &
Marie, et al) Foundation...as an effort to produce a high-quality, national
television special to raise money for hospitalized children. <skip lines> Today,
CMN is the largest annual television fundraiser in the world." The ad says all
monies raised in Phoenix & Northern Arizona go to two named participating
hospitals in Arizona and are used "so they can keep up with the latest medical
technologies and provide outstanding services for children." The telethon air
dates are June 1 & 2, 1996.
A sub-heading said: "Buy these products and help support hospitalized children
in our community!" One of the items listed in my paper was Arrowhead Spring
Water, a product of the Nestle company. Now, I will pay closer attention to the
CMN items featured in my favorite grocery stores to see if there are more Nestle
products on the CMN list.
Isn't it interesting that Nestle wants to help provide the best of care to
children who are hospitalized? I wonder if any of those children are
hospitalized for illnesses or diseases directly or indirectly related to their
consumption of one of Nestle's ABM products, considering the known hazards of
any ABM. I wonder if the local participating hospitals and CMN know what
strange bedfellows they have.
