Mary:  Thanks for your input.  My question was rather more basic.  I was
just asking how long it takes for them to heal and whether or not to be
concerned about them opening up with each nursing if mother was otherwise
comfortable.  If she really doesn't heal, then I will definitely check
for thrush.  Thanks again, Alicia.
