I was asked a question today and I thought I would give all you thinkers out
there a crack at it.

We have a baby who was Rh sensitized we were anticipating an exchange
transfusion soon after birth or a transfusion for anemia but the baby needed
neither. One of our NICU nurses asked is it possible for baby to come in
contact to any of mothers antibodies through breastmilk. I told her that the
antibodies were to factors on the red cells and that I had never heard this
as a concern, but I wasn't sure. We couldn't find anything in Lawrence.
So...Dr. Gartner where are you enlighten us.... I'm sure there is a very
simple answer. By the way the baby is nursing like a champ and for once no
one has said anything about "breastmilk jaundice".
