Gomco apparently makes a couple of different pumps. The one I am most
familiar with also sells under the Axicare or KaWaCo name. It is about 10"
X 6" by 7" high and sells for about $300. This pump single pumps only, is
not self-cycling, and has no suction adjustment. Therefore, it is way too
strong for someone like me, but may not be strong enough for others. As the
pump ages, the "bladder" inside gives out, meaning there is not enough
suction created. Unless the pump is tested regularly, you don't know how
good suction is or isn't. There is a finger-hole suction release.

Given the influences that a mother with a hospitilized baby is under, I find
that the easier a pump is, the more successful the mom will be. If she is
double pumping, it will take less time. Therefore, she may pump more often.
If all she has to do is sit and relax, she may let down easier. Watching
the nipple being pulled in the breastshield so that she can know when to
release the suction and watching how much (or little) milk is being
collected will be a deterent to relaxation and confidence.

I don't consider this pump appropriate for a mom pumping full-time for any
legnth of time.
