You know that statement, history repeats itself??? Well, perhaps your
collective wisdom will help this from continuing to happen again..
Today I met a mom who's 8 w.o. baby boy has visible blood in his stool.
She's a bit concerned as 3 years ago she said the same thing happened to her
daughter at 3 months of age. With her daughter, the blood was preceded by 10
to 15 green watery stools a day and then a day later the blood was visible.
She consulted with a pedigastro. who suggested a predisgeted form of abm. at
5 mos. The blood resolved and she sunsequently weaned. Her daughter is
allergic to several foods now and is being treated by an allergist.

Now, with her son, she's very nervous the same thing is occuring. She
doesn't want to wean as baby is gaining beautifully. She said recently her
son had a fever, was hospitalized to r/o meningitis, had an IV and antibiotic
therapy. This was followed by foul smelling greenish stools and visible
blood. The gastro has her on a wheat free, dairy free, tomato, and garlic
free diet. She has been on this diet for a week and still sees the blood in
his stool.

How common is this? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thank you!
