I have a friend not on LACTNET who is struggling with some of the health
professionals at her hospital (a university hospital, no less).  She has
been able to educate the staff, somewhat, on BFing and jaundice, only to
start seeing a new reason for hospital admissions of BFing newborns.
From what she's been seeing, BFing infants are being admitted with bili
levels of 17 or 18.  When she begins to ask questions about it, she is told
they are not being hospitalized for the bili levels, but because the baby's
specific gravity is high showing that the baby is dehydrated and in need
of hospitalization.  She has not been able to find any info on this.  Any
help would be greatly appreciated!
