I have thought about this, and I have to point out that babies will also
make a hickey when they latch on and miss the nipple.

(Hickey--a colloquial term referring to an area of broken capillaries when
suction is applied to the skin--teenagers like giving them to each other,
and little kids often make them on their own arms.)
