Does anyone have information on the effectiveness of a Gompco (sp?)
pump? My understanding is that it was designed as a stomach pump,
adapted somewhat to be a breastpump, is loud (like a vacuum cleaner)
and must be cycled manually.
We have had some success in getting Medicaid to cover the rental on
electric breast pumps at least for moms whose babies have to stay in
the hospital. But now that our Medicaid is transitioning to HMO
groups, we are fighting the battles over and over again with varying
success. (One HMO ruled that an electric pump would only be needed if
a mom could not physically operate a manual pump, i.e. was missing an
arm!) The latest bump in the road is this Gumpco pump-a cheaper
alternative because the contract DME supplier has it in stock. I could
use some help with some ammunition for this fight.
Thanks.
