How about the "homemade" breastmilk that many of us born in the 50's got fed?
Canned milk, diluted, with Karo syrup added?! It's a wonder we aren't all in
worse health than we are.
I recently had someone tell me that her daughter's baby couldn't tolerate the
ABM w/ iron so they switched him to this homemade formula, and he was doing
great.( The daughter was grossed out by breastfeeding, and wouldn't have even
considered it.)
She told her daughter that she had been raised on this and had done fine. I
was horrified, but didn't know this lady well enough to say anything, she
also seemed like the type who wouldn't have taken my advice very well.(She'd
made up her mind that this was the way to go!) Anyway, what kind of
detrimental effects could this type of feeding have on a child?
