I have a photo of my daughter at age 4 and her (at the time breastfeeding)
friend, Mac, a boy, age 2. They are both holding dolls and "glowering" at
me. Just a minute or so earlier than the moment of the photo, they were
sitting side by side nursing their babies and quietly talking. I walked in
on them, and wanting to record this enchanting scene for posterity, ran off
for the camera. By the time I got back with it, and bumbled my way through
focusing to (at last), and snapping the shutter (I really should get
automatic focus), they were both a bit disgusted with me. My older child,
Brian (now almost 10), received a doll from his gramma which he didnt play
with until his sister was born (he was 3). For a while, he cradled, sang to,
and nursed his baby, too.
Diane, VT LLLL, and mom of Brian and Erin (now 6), wife of Bob, RN, who plays
Irish music.
