In a message dated 96-08-24 19:41:48 EDT, you write:
<< Here is a choice quote from their curriculum : "Shelton recommends that
following the second week after birth baby be cut back to three feedings a
day. Of course, with this amount of feedings your baby will not be the fat
little butterball that is considered so healthy in this society. But he will
be much healthier and will develop and mature more quickly. He will develop
good eating habits later in life as a result. >>
I see most or all of the posts recommend gently providing info and let them
make own decision. I would not bash their religion, but I say scare the hell
out of them with something stronger like "your baby may dehydrate and starve,
become so weak that he will not demand to eat, his brain will likely develop
suboptimally, and he may die. I strongly advise against this type of plan,
and I suggest you contact 10 pediatricians or neonatologists or family docs
and ask their opinion of this before following thru." I could not go gentle
on this one.
