In chiming in to the LC qualification discussion, I would like to agree
with Coach Smith that LC work requires BOTH people skills and "book"
skills. What about LLLLs who give well intentioned, but underinformed
support in potentially dangerous situations? Not all LLLLs have the same
experiences and training. You don't know what you don't know. I like the
fact that local LLLLs can confidently refer difficult situations on to
LCs that we know have more expertise and training. It would be nice to be
that confident with all LCs in other communities. If the standards aren't
uniform AND tough, then we don't know if we are making a good referral or
not.
