Dear Lactnetters,
I am posting this as a member of the ILCA Board of Directors. I would like
to kindly request that Lactnet subscribers refrain from (or at least consider
the implications of) using Lactnet - which is a private, independent forum
having participants and "lurkers" from many areas - for discussing internal
ILCA affairs. Questions or comments from ILCA members to the Board are always
welcome, but are better directed to the ILCA office at
[log in to unmask] (which are then forwarded to directors as
applicable) or straight to a director. (Directors' e-mail addresses appear in
the recently mailed 1996 ILCA Roster or I will share them via private
e-mail.)
I realize ILCA members want to hear other members' ideas or thoughts.
However, using a private forum for association business is not the best way
to accomplish this. Maybe this explains why many recent ILCA-related Lactnet
posts reflect rumor and distorted information. The ILCA Board is moving
forward to set up an ILCA web page and bulletin boards for members. In the
meantime, the Board is in a quandry as to how best to address ILCA issues
that are posted to an independent forum, especially when the postings involve
misinformation. Even my posting this message, which two other directors
reviewed prior to sending, may be viewed as evidence in support of the
erroneous ideas that "Lactnet is connected with ILCA" and/or that "Lactnet is
an appropriate forum for internal ILCA discussions."
I invite you all to send your ILCA-related comments and concerns directly to
the ILCA office or to someone on the ILCA Board of Directors. Also, read the
ILCA Globe from cover to cover, since part of its purpose is to address
association business. Thanks in advance for your understanding and
cooperation.
Linda Smith, Treasurer, ILCA Board of Directors
