Hi,
I'd like some advice from you all. I also use nipple shields on an
extremely rare basis and always with very careful follow up of the nursing
dyad. I received a call a couple of weeks ago from a local pediatric
practice with whom I had a pretty good relationship until this call. They
informed me that the local baby store had discontinnued carrying nipple
shields and they wanted to know if I sold them. I told them that I did sell
them but, not over the counter and only with close personal follow up. I
also explained that I thought they could be risky if mom was not followed
carefully and I was concerned that if I had them available for anyone who
walked in that I could be professionally liable.
As I think about the situation further, I am wondering if I should call them
back and offer to sell them IF they send along a prescription. What do you
all think?
