I am very interested in Maureen Minchin's statement that pyloric stenosis is
acquired and associated with early abm feedings. I thought that this
condition was congenital. If this is true and research supports early
introduction of abm as being one of the causes of pyloric stenosis, would a
mother who has exclusively breastfed have ammunition to take the abm company
or the hospital where the nurses slipped the infant something to hold him
over, to court? One baby that I am thinking of in particular, had corrective
surgery for pyloric stenosis at 4 wks of age. The mom knew the baby had been
fed abm in hospital because the baby spit-up curdled, smelly white stuff
before she had even bf him the first time (six hrs. after delivery). After
the surgery, the baby was able to keep breastmilk down, but the mom had to
make many dietary changes. Seems the child had a severe reaction whenever
mom ingested any dairy, even to the point that she had to read boxes for
hidden milk ingredients. Any thoughts about this?
