>>I have heard Gene Cranston Anderson speak on kangaroo care and describe a
"heat pad" that seems to come into action on the chest of both males and
females during kangaroo care. I wonder if this is what you experience
Jeffrey? Ever tried kangaroo care?<<

This brought to mine a concern shared with me by two L&D nurses recently. I
had been telling my infant care classes about the need of babys for tactile
stimulation, about the mom being the best heater and insulator after birth,
and that dads could also hold babies against their bare chests with a towel
around them both. Well, the nurses were concerned because they say that they
have twice had babies get too cool when the dads were holding them like
this, though they were bundled..... they said the moms kept the babies nice
and warm, but they were concerned that the same didn't seem to hold true with
the dads. Anyone else here of this? Any explanations or comments? Kathy
Dettwyler?
