Hi..someone just asked...

"I failed to give proper title to the book that made such a difference to
me-WHY I SHOULD NURSE MY BABY. I am not sure if it is proper to mention
titles and authors so I will leave that out."

It is perfectly fine to discuss helpful books that may add to our
professional knowledge base. Several books are frequently mentioned
here...such as Milk Money, and Madness, or Breastfeeding: Biocult.
Perspectives, or Hale's Medications and Mother's Milk...etc....among others.
There is no rule against this, and in fact, it is a great help to share
these resources with our colleagues. That is what Lactnet is about,
..sharing. It is the blatant selling, mentioning of prices, etc...that is
offensive. We try to keep Lactnet free of advertising, but there is a place
for sharing of resources, such as books, and movies, etc. The thing that
would not be ok is for ME to tout my OWN book, etc...and make personal
profit from it. So, list the author etc if you find a book that is helpful,
etc, keeping in mind the fact that Lactnet is a place for information and
not for "selling." Thanks. Conferences are a different situation. There are
so many, and they are listed in various places, and we can't accomodate that
type of posting. Trying to clarify. Thanks.

Kathleen

PS An example of what is NOT ok to do is to lift the list subscribership,
and privately email your catalog, or your advertisement .... this is
unacceptable, as it is not sharing, but more for personal profit.
