I thought of y'all today and all the work we do to promote, protect
and support breastfeeding. We had a wonderful day at a healthy baby
fair which was co-sponsored by our local Healthy Mother/Healthy Baby
Coalition and local WIC agency.  We had representatives from places
like police dept- child safety and fingerprints, fire dept.- seat
belt safety and fire safety, bone marrow donor screening, free
immunizations, early childhood intervention- developmental screening,
WIC Hemoglobin and hematocrit screening, height and weight checks,
medical students doing blood pressure screening, poison control,
local shelter for women and children, positive parenting-Parents as
Teachers program, Breast Pump depots, LLL, local hospitals- new
parent programs without formula giveaways, lots of entertainment,kids
dancing, doing karate and gymnastics,a clown, Joy Jump, petting zoo,
hissing cockroaches and snakes from the museum and can you believe it-
 NO INFANT FORMULA LITERATURE, SAMPLES OR PROMOTION!!!
No sponsorship money was accepted in order that we limit freebies and
exhibits to those in compliance with WHO Code. It can be done! It was
wonderful and I hope sets an example for others! Healthy babies begin
with breastfeeding! We shared LOTS of Breastfeeding information woth
mothers, fathers and health workers,  Cathy Liles
