Pardee,
I have seen colostrum that looked like the color of split pea soup.  In that
case the colostrum did test heme + .  Once the milk started to come in,
the color cleared and looked normal.  Possibly a break down product
(bilirubin) of blood that was present in the ducts.  Would be interested to
hear if the mom your working with has the color return to normal  once
her milk is in.
