Jill,  I didn't understand what it was you noted in the patient's
chart, something about "did you breastfeed at all because I talked you
into it?"?

Regardless of that:

think about this, the GRANDMOTHER, not the mother or baby (your true
clients) is making the complaint.  She may have a multitude of reasons
not to want her daughter to breastfeed, from the "I didn't do it and
you turned out OK" to the "I have to take care of this baby and I don't
want to be feeding it every 2 hours" or the baby will love the mother
more than the grandmother or the baby will be more fussy, or anger
issues, or guilt issues or just plain ignorance.

Also, emphasize your duplicate jobs, both of which you fulfilled well
by encouraging breastfeeding.

Also, it is certainly more cost effective to provide counceling for
baby to remove milk by suckling than to provide mom with a pump to
relieve engorgement and/or antibiotics if she devolopes mastitis.

I think it is a darn shame you are not supported by your boss.  The
first assumption the boss should make is "my staff is not abusive,
there must be a misunderstanding here".

Make sure you do put a written protest in your job record.  The next
boss may be better at his/her job and pay it some heed.
