Hi, All:

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a baby who had lost 21 oz in 7
days. The mom has managed to turn that around with pumping and a
supplemental nursing program, and the baby was a pound over birth weight
at 4 weeks.

She has had continuing problems with severe pain in her breasts and I
have shared many of your suggestions with her. This past week we began
a course of Diflucan based on a consultation with a LC here who is
convinced the problem is yeast. She had about 5 days of the drug with
no improvement in pain at all. Last night when her husband heard her
yelling and swearing at the pain he ( a dentist) made her take ibuprofen
and Tylenol together. Lo and behold, the pain disappeared completely!
This morning she didn't take any and the pain began to recur. We've
decided to follow Dr. Dad's prescription for several days and see where
it goes.

Mom asked me if I think the Diflucan kicked in or it was just the pain
meds, and if we'd ever know what the problem was and which of our
shotgun responses was the cure. I don't think we ever will, but I'm
grateful that the pain is better, because she deserves this.

I'm curious if anyone else has tried pain meds with such immediate
relief. I had suggested this to mom at one point but she didn't follow
up and I was taking pot shots and wasn't sure if it would have any
effect, so I didn't pursue it at that time.

Thanks to all of you for being there.
