Hi Lactnetters!! Need some help please!! Had a mom with a 5 week old call
for help. She developed mastitis and was treated with augmentin and keflex.
Apparantly that did not resolve the problem and they tried to aspirate in the
office. When that didn't work they took her to surgery and did an I&D. Mom
called today, (one of the nurses gave her my #). She is on parlodel and has
her breasts bound. The surgery showed fibrous and necrotic tissue, no
granuloma, she is also now on cipro. I would like to see her off parlodel,
breast feed on the unaffected side and use cabbage and a pump to keep the
affected side empty till she heals. ( She was using a G---er pump with no
luck) No surprise!! Anybody have any other ideas or treatment plans??? She
has a penrose drain in and it is just draining serous fluid. Sure wish I
could have seen her earlier!!!! Prompt replys please, I need to talk with
her ob and surgeon tomorrow. TIA Denise Hewson
