Since my answer is very unconventional I hesitate
to mention it but we often overlook the possible emotional
causes of conditions we suffer. In the book Heal Your Body by
Louise Hay she lists the probable causes of different ailments.
Under problems of the thyroid (all kinds) she lists:
Humiliation. "I never get to do what I want to do. When is it
going to be my turn?"
Another book that is more detailed along this line is Buried
Feelings Never Die.
