Hello!  I am working with the Mennonite community at present and have heard
about "maple syrups disease."  I know this is a genetic based abnormality but
that's all.  Oh!  They had said that there is a test for it after birth and that
babies usually will die within two weeks of birth or will become severely
retarded if not put on special diet.  Anyone know the real name or any other
information about this?  I would really appreciate it.
