A former client told me her 18 mo daughter has begun nursing her doll,
after a period of bringing doll to mom to nurse. My sons brought me many
things to nurse, including trucks and a dead worm, but never nursed their
own toys. (I was touched by my son's faith in the restorative powers of
human milk but no, the worm did not revive.)

All the pictures I have of children nursing their dolls show little girls.
How did your children of each sex nurse their toys - by bringing them
to you or by nursing them themselves? Is there a gender difference? Just
curious.
