Just to clarify--the "6 cases" are the *individual* reported cases in
which the mother was known to be HIV negative during pregnancy and had a
documented source of infection during lactation.
The 25%/30% numbers are based on epidemiologic studies, many of
anonymously obtained samples from moms and/or babies. The moms' duration
of infection, stage of infection, and source of infection are generally
not known or not included in the studies, so only general statistical
conclusions can be made.
