Reading comments from C. Ione Sims (excellent ideas!) left me with one
more thought: can you start a support group yourself? I take, for
inspiration, the stories of the founders of LaLeche League. Read what
they went through--you'll identify! In my current position, as a Lactation
Consultant employed by an HMO, I initially started out as a volunteer
leading a monthly Nursing Mother's Group. Slowly, but increasingly, I met
mothers who were interested in breastfeeding. They did the "promotion."
Soon new mothers were seeking me out. Then the clinic was
established--because the "customers" demanded it.
I'm a believer in grass roots and the power of one. Good luck--and let me
know if I can be of assistance.
