>>the real problem is the hypermastia in the axillary. The mother can not
even put her arms down because of the swelling. There is no supernumerary
nipple
in this tissue but she says when she has a let down milk squirts out of this
tissue in her axilla. What have we tried?, Everything! Ice compresses,
cabbage, massage, she is taking pain medication because it is so very
painful.<<

My thoughts are this: Though she does not have an apparent supernumerary
nipple, she definitely has extra breast tissue and some kind of opening! I
would treat this as you would treat any engorged supernumerary structure. My
preference would be to continue the use of chilled cabbage compresses---
remember to break the veins with a rolling pin first and change out every 2
hours--- plus the use of ibuprofen, if she tolerates it okay. Most likely
this is a temporary condition that will recede given a little time and
patience.
