Pat Gima asked if anyone had read Emmett Holt. He is one of the premier
MDs who wrote books on how to take care of babies before there was a
pedaitric specialty by that name. He was not the only one who took upon
himself the role of telling parents what to do. ANd, yes, he was followed.
One of the reasons JHL has a column titled "Time Was..." is to reprint
things like this so that we know where the roots of advice (good and bad)
come from. Knowing our past may help us reinvent our present in order to
preserve our future! (climbing off soapbox)
Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities
brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
