My now 19 year old daughter had a 34 hematocrit at nine months.
She was eating very few solids. Our family physician told us that
without doing anything differently it would probably be up at twelve
months. Sure enough, it was 38 when retested then--she still was not
eating many solids. My 23 year old daughter also had a hematocrit of 34
at nine months. She was eating many more solids than her sister at that
age. We gave her iron drops for about a week--couldn't stand it much
longer than that--messy, uncomfortable, etc. Her hematocrit was also 38
at twelve months.
