Anyone catch the segment tonight on Dateline NBC about ADULT
formula (Ensure, Sustacal, Boost, etc). It talked about how the
commercials indicate that it is a safe alternative to eating a
meal, nutritiously complete. Then they had a dietician say that
it was not a good idea to use the formulas this way. She said that
they were designed to supplement a diet. She also said they are
actually only needed by individuals with health problems (nice
connection!). The companies (Ro--, M---d J-----n) wrote letters
saying that the formulas are marketed as supplements only. NOT!!
The commercials do not even suggest this! Then again, what can we
expect!! These companies have been making $$$$$ off of "providing"
babies with sub-standard nutrition, now they are pursuing the same
in the adult market as well. And they use the same sneaky
marketing techniques, too!!!
