I am helping a mother who has been using Syntocinon nasal spray while pumping
at work. She is on her last bottle and has a lot of difficulty expressing
without it. With the spray she can express 4 - 6 ounces at a time using a
(good) manual pump. She rented the hospital grade pump from me to see if
that would work for her without the spray, but was only able to express 1 1/2
ounces per session. She works part time, but that means three full days per
week. I suggested pumping on one side while the baby nurses on the other
when she is home, but she was uncomfortable with the thought of the pump
interfering with her time with the baby. This would also mean investing in a
battery operated pump, so she could do it with one hand and she was hesitant
to do that. Are there any remaining sources of Syntocinon? Please let me
know if you know of any. Are there any alternatives to this spray? Any
other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
