Hi! I've been reading this list for a couple of weeks, and now I have a
question. I'm a bf mom of 2 (5mos and 3+yrs) on WIC. Soon, I have my
first recertification appt. and I'm concerned about a few things:
1--my baby is totally bf and I do not plan on starting solids for quite
some time in an effert to avoid the allergies and ear infections my older
son has. Should I expect to get any flack over this? My baby is very
healthy and thriving (nearly 18 lbs, almost double birth weight).
2--I was asked to bring in the children's shot records. What if I
don't have any since our pediatrician agrees with us that totally bf
infants who are healthy can delay innoculations until later. Could this be
a problem? I've heard of people losing benefits for refusing
immunizations...should I get a note from my doctor expounding upon the
immunological properties of bm?
3--Finally, is there any way a suggestion could be made to the powers
that be to change the computers that clients' personal info is entered in?
When asking how long (in weeks, mind you) a child was nursed, the largest
number which can be entered is 99--or under 2 years!
you can email me privately if you think that this is not the forum for this
discussion, but I am dreading this appt! It is awful being treated like an
idiot when I probably know just as much or more about many aspects of
nutrition than the nutrition counsellor (who advised me that cow's milk is
a "perfect" food for my 3 yr. old and that **canned** peas, tuna, and cream
of mushroom soup mixed together make a balanced meal).
Thank you,
Dawn H-S
