I,too, have always encouraged moms to return those lousy little (unnamed)
pumps. After a conversation with a sales rep from one of the major pump
manufacturers a couple of weeks ago I 'm wondering if we could be at liable.
A lot of you probably know that there is a lawsuit involving one pump
manufacturer against another one and also, I believe, a couple of nurses at a
particular hospital.

As professional LCs an important part of our role is advising clients in
the appropriate and best choice of BF assistance products to help them meet
their personal BF goals.. If Consumer Reports doesn't get sued for comparing
products, how can we be?

It's hard not to get carried away in your condemnation of a product after
you've talked to the 3rd mom in a week who has ended up with sore
nipples/mastitis/no milk (take your pick) from using a completely
ineffective pump. And so often they'll say, "But it was an *electric* pump!"
as though all electric pumps were equal.

Anybody out there think we are at risk for giving correct information?
