I recently helped a mother who had tried for over a month to latch her
baby onto flat nipples. As a last ditch "try anything" effort, we used an
SNS... and the baby went on pretty easily.
In this case, it seems the tubing acted as a focal point for both mother
and baby. So it may not always be true that you can't use an SNS if the
baby won't latch. This mother and baby continue to do well.
