Hi All!
You won't believe what I saw this morning on TV!!!  It was great!
Dr. Laura Nathanson was on the Mike and Maty Show with a new mom and dad of
quints (3 wks old and doing well).  They were talking about newborn stuff
(not sure what I came in in the middle).  Then the Dr started talking about
the special needs of premies.  She stressed the importance of BF premies (and
all babies) listing immunities, reduced risk of SIDs, and higher IQ<YES!>,
among the many benefits.  She said to the mom, "Now, you've been practicing
BF right?"  Mom said yes with a big smile.  Dr asked her if she could BF two
at a time yet.  Mom said not quite but almost!  Then they talked about BF all
5 w/o supplemenatation.  Mom said she'd like to try, but that right now they
were giving some supplement to make sure that everyone got fed.  The Dr said
that it would be hard, but possibly possible to totally BF quints, and that
maybe start with the baby who needed the most breastmilk (littlest baby that
is), and that a schedule is really important to make sure that no one gets
left out!
I wish that they had said that the best way to exclusively BF quints would be
to BF all the time, not supplement, but you can't ahve it all, and really,
how many people have heard of quints being exclusively BF?  (I have , but
we're talking general public here)
Anyway, overall, it was a great, very positive picture of BF and the benefits
of it!
I don't normally watch morning talk shows, but my remote quit working and I
couldn't change the channel this morning!!  Fate works in mysterious ways!!
