Cynthia,
My background is NICU nursing and you did nothing wrong and certainly did not
compromise the baby from what I can see.
15 cc IS half an ounce. One ounce is 28 or 30cc, most user 30cc. This
hospital / unit is NOT baby friendly. The baby should definitely get the
colostrum - there is no reason in my opinion to give glucose water or
artif.milk. A 35 wk baby almost 6 lbs can be pretty much treated as a term
baby, unless real problems are diagnosed. Sounds like heart trouble not
really diagnosed. That is the only reason I can think of to limit fluids, if
baby has heart failure they must be limited. But this situation sounds like
arbitrary limitation to see what baby is takeing. The bradycardia and apnea
often occurs with bottle feeding. Did the baby get bottles at first?
Anyway, I think you did fine. In the future, you might be more precise wtih
measureemnts only because NICU folks are just number crazy /measure
everything.
