Thanks to everyone who sent their thoughts in regards to my question of 2/7
(mother of then 6 day old with incredible burning pain in her breasts; worse
when feeding but continuously present). I was especially interested in the
posts regarding costochondritis and disc herniation as possible causes of
breast/nipple pain, since these are not causes I would have thought of.

I talked to the mother again today, and am now pretty sure it's not
yeast-related. She's been on the diflucan for 8 days now, and the pain is not
quite as intense, but still pretty awful. My gut feeling is that, if anything,
it's the ibuprofen that's helping. Found out a couple of things today that may
(or may not) be related. She was having some arm numbness (just one) that is
worse since delivery--her thumb and first 3 fingers on the hand are completely
numb. She also has back pain that worsens as the day continues. (Hmmm . . .
nerve compression in her back causing the pain?) She also has had fibromyalgia
for the past 4 years, a condition I am completely ignorant of--any possible
connection here?

She will finish the last 2 days of diflucan just in case, start taking the
ibuprofen regularly instead of sporadically, see my colleague tomorrow to make
sure the positioning is flawless, and (I hope) see a chiropractor about her back
and arm. If anyone has any thoughts about the fibromyalgia, please let me know.
Thank you so much--I love being able to talk to all 800 of you!
