Margery Wilson mentions an infant with a deeply notched tongue -- says that he
had his frenulum clipped at 6 days but mother's nipples still sore at 6 weeks.
Questions: What is the nipple soreness like? Are the nipples damaged at the
end? How does she describe the pain? If the answers to these questions
indicate positional soreness, it may be that the frenulum was not adequately
clipped. If the source of the pain is not positional, you may need to look
further at yeast (previously treated but may be unresolved) or exema. IF the
tongue is still notched (heart-shaped on extension), I would guess that the
frenulum is still tight. Was the "clipper" experienced in treating newborns?
Hope these thoughts help.
