Dear Melissa,
You asked, "How can I go on when everyone is against me?" 13 years ago
Kathleen Huggins and I started a breastfeeding warm line for our community.
At that time we were often frustrated with the mismanaged breastfeeding we
saw. We hung in there and educated women. Thirteen years later our
community has a 98% breastfeeding initiation rate. Things are probably still
not perfect, but maybe our ideal isn't everybody's ideal. Just hang in
there. Help the dmothers that come to you they will get out there and spread
the word. The more ladies and babies you help the more they will tell their
friends. You will also find out that patients will begin to demand the
services. Put your efforts where they are wanted, have patience and you will
find that the results you want will come
