I have a little more information about the speech on dioxin risks which I
posted about on Friday. The speech was not a National Public Radio show (as
I was initially told) but a Maine-produced show called "Speaking in Maine."
One of the speakers was Lois Gibbs (an environmental activist originally
from Love Canal). She and the staff of the CCHW (Citizens Clearinghouse for
Hazardous Waste) recently wrote the book _Dying from Dioxin_ (publisher
South End Press). I'm still trying to find out exactly what was said about
breastfeeding & endocrine disorders in the speech. Maine Public Radio does
sell audiotapes of the program (but no transcripts) -- anyone who is
interested can e-mail me privately for details. I've requested _Dying from
Dioxin_ from my small town library but it may be a while before they can get
it. I've also e-mailed some questions to CCHW. Thanks to Margery Wilson, I
was able to locate some information on dioxin on the Web. Please e-mail
privately if you want the web site addresses. The 2 sources I've had time to
read both support breastfeeding.
I'll post more when I learn more. Thanks to all who have added to the
discussion.
