I love the idea of using walnuts to show the size of a newborn's stomach. I had been using my husband's old golf balls or ping-pong balls until I happened upon a scrap of tie-dyed pinky-orange cotton knit fabric when I was cleaning out the sewing area. I played around with it for a while and then made a lifesized model of a tiny newborn tummy. It was so cute that I immediately made a second one for an LC friend! The newborn tummies were a big hit with all our mothers, mostly, I think, because they were realistic without being "gross." I am really big on visual aids and am always looking for new ways to present old concepts.
