You refer to this reference as coming from a 'folk song': I presume you mean
the song about the Intra-Penile Device:
"It's the IPD, the IPD,
It may not feel too good to you but it's not hurting me,
Remember when the pain begins to fill your eyes with tears,
Remember I put up with it for years."
I've heard Australia's own Judy Small sing this song several times, and I
think she wrote it.
