What I heard is that the phytoestogen content is so high in soy that there is
concern for the babies who receive it. The number quoted at the conference
was that there is 3-5 times more estrogen present than would change a
menstrual cycle of a young woman. Apparently this is from an article by
Cliff Ervine from the New Zealand Medical Journal (I do not have the
citation. The conference was put on by Health Ed and they told us to phone
them for the citation - it was not in the bib. It is real recent). Maybe
some of you from down under have more access to this journal than we do here.
The ban would be on over the counter sales. Still would be able to get it
with a prescription.
